I might have agreed to you at first, but having spoken to them more, I suspect either the former or something in between.

I don't think they have as much control as they would like us to think they do.

Something to dig into. [ he'll be harassing them more this upcoming week. ] We're reaching the halfway point, before the party. Some kind of solution has to be found behind the scenes, and whether they know or not... better to find out sooner rather than later.

What solution? The solution is, many of us will die, and we have little control over who.

... I don't want to believe this is it. That the party is the only way out of Hell, or that there'll be a limited number of winners, compared to our numbers. It's better than just wallowing in eternal damnation to me.

That there's a chance at all is something I'm still not convinced of.

Maybe. I'm not typically an optimist - leave that to other people with more rose-colored glasses.

But if I'm going to die a second time, I'll do it on my feet, where I'll be able to say that I did what I could.

I don't plan to go down without a fight. But I am also not an optimist. I'll save what I can; I don't plan to try to save everyone.
