I have thought about it, and I suppose that...there would not be trials if our host did not find them entertaining. And the ultimate fate of our hostages will depend on our host's conclusion that we have been sufficiently entertaining.
So I feel it is important we still work to solve the trials, even if it feels like a rather pointless exercise when no one acted with malice.
[ Pulling more loose thread out of his coat, nodding along slowly. ]
Sounds about right. Not much choice, otherwise. Someone's going to be punished either way. Least if you-- Least if you find the right killer, their hostage is okay. That's the rules, right?
Just one person instead of two. Pretty cold math, I guess. Least, if I had done it, that's what I'd want. Wouldn't want anyone else to pay for my shit.
[ breathing out harshly through his nose, thanks for the brief heart attack!! ]
Oh, shut up. You're dumb as a bag of rocks sometimes. If I can't talk you down - and I'll probably manage, I'm very good at it - you're going to tell me and I'm going to help you. You know as much.
[ He's giving her an easy grin, but he does have to cough just a little bit into his hand, trying to hide the few amber petals he's managed to hack up. ]

[ Looking over at her briefly at the coughing, but he doesn't push too hard. Just letting Frumpkin do the emotional comfort for the moment. ]
Probably not going to like what we find tomorrow.

You alright?

I cannot leave the fate of my House to chance. That I do not wish to risk my own life or do something I find abhorrent is...insufficient.

Well what about my fucking life, Harrow?

[she turns to look at him, her eyes tired and sad.]
Stop. I do not have the right to put my feelings before the needs of my House.

[ Chasing her gaze down to look at her, closely. ]
What are you saying right now?
[ He knows what she's getting at, but he wants her to say it plainly if she's doing that. ]

[calm down it's just a hypothetical murder.]
I don't want to involve you in any of it, and I do not promise to inform you.

You are wrong. This is different than what we experienced before.
no subject
Not different enough to change my mind.

That's the trade-off. I'm going to carry it regardless.
