Mm. It would make sense, if a pair planned to act, that they would coordinate. This happened often on the station. Two working in concert, taking two lives, can better control and predict the situation.

They do, although they only free one hostage. But if you knew one another before this place, you might care for the same person. Your comrade's hostage might be equally meaningful to you.
