Oh, while we're here. Did anyone else speak with Sieghart last night? He claimed to have been possessed. If we are to believe him, he didn't target Flayn by choice, she woke and he felt compelled to pursue her.

The only motive I can think of to lie and yet still to ruin his own arm and capitulate so readily to execution is if he had accomplices he was protecting.
