[there's something maybe a bit melancholy as he looks at the sight, some of the brightness coming off him flickering a little - but that fades when he notices her smile, grinning in turn.]
If we're being honest... I didn't have the easiest time making friends when I was younger, either, so it meant a lot to get to know all of them more recently.

But in this case, what I'm specifically talking about - there was some stuff going on when I was a kid that meant the kingdom wasn't the safe. You know, curses, spells, evil monsters, that kind of thing. And my mom was overprotective, to say the least, so I didn't really have the opportunity to get out a lot. A few months ago, though, things got a lot safer for a while, so she backed off.
That's alright. [her voice is...not gentle, exactly, but a little understanding.] There are things I keep close as well. I do not expect you to speak on such matters if you do not feel it wise, particularly as concerns your home.
