[she looks tired, and a bit sad, but...]

Two of them were from the school. I ought to be asking you.

...I think seeing the number jump so much is going to be tough for everyone.

[still, after a moment:]

But I won't deny that it's - hard, this week. Probably the hardest so far. I didn't know Hope that well, but Aikawa... He's one of the only people I was around for most of the time I was at the school.

[she frowns.]

I'm sorry. I didn't know him very well, but he was sweet. [she chews her cheek.] Hope was very decent to me, this whole time. Always...checking in on Thursday night and putting up with my odd demands for sharing our space. I liked him.

[agleam]

[he nods.]

He was a kind person. Obviously he was a lot different, a lot younger when I knew him back at the school, but... It seemed like he grew up to be a really great person. He didn't deserve this.

[if only that meant something more than sentiment.]

I don't know why your school has been picked off so badly while some of us remain untouched.

I hope it's a coincidence... Not that it'd really make it better if it were.
